With the start of a new year, I've decided to make a few changes to this web site. I don't seem to have the time or the available information to come up with a new article as often as I would like. In order to keep the site updated, I'm going to just add a new article whenever I get a new one finished or if someone else wants to send an article for me to post on the site I may do so. I'm still planning on updating the "Token News" page each month and adding some new pictures to the "Pictures" page each month.

Since winter has set in there doesn't seem to be much happening accept on eBay. I was able to purchase a small group to tokens this past month from a private source. They were mostly from common towns but I was able to add a few to my collection. I also received a token as a Christmas present from another collector. That was a great surprise and was greatly appreciated. Anyone wishing to send me tokens as a gift for my birthday or on any other holiday please feel free to do so !!!! I think President's Day and Valentine's Day aren't to far off!

The Western States Token Society Token Jamboree is going to be held March 14, 15, 16, 2008. It is being held at the Red Lion Inn, 1401 Arden Way, Sacramento, Ca. and is a fun show to attend.

There were a lot of good Idaho tokens that sold on eBay this past month. A holed token from "Morrisons / Place / King Hill / Idaho sold for $338.33. My specimen is not holed like the one that sold on eBay. Apparently this is the 2nd of these "holed" examples to show up recently. Prior to this I think there were only two known from this business and it is the only token that says King Hill, Idaho on it. There is a maverick from a different merchant in King Hill that shows up occasionally. Another of the "Gilmore / Pool Hall" tokens sold this month for $400.00. A "Nettie's" maverick from Gilmore was listed and then was withdrawn after a private sale. I was disappointed that the auction was terminated early. "Nettie's" is one of the few true "house of ill repute" tokens from Idaho. I think there are only two or three examples known. I had one offered to me in a trade when I first started collecting but I was to "dumb" to realize how desirable it was!! A neat Sandpoint token from "James & Grant / Grocery" sold for $125.95 and a "Meridian Commissary" token sold for $127.65. A 21mm brass variety of the "At Gorby's Place" token from Glenn's Ferry, Ida. sold for $99.99. I put a picture of a larger aluminum variety of this token on my pictures page this month. There were about 15 other Idaho tokens that I followed on eBay this past month. Most seemed to sell within a reasonable range.

A new variety of the "Juliaetta / Pool / Hall " token turned up this month. The new variety is round, brass 21mm instead of the cloverleaf, aluminum variety. They are both "Good For / 5c/ In Trade".

John Mutch was able to find a reference that definitively attributes the H & M # 20 (Hemenway & Moser) maverick tokens to Nampa, Idaho. The attribution of the H & M # 20's to Nampa, Idaho has always been questionable so it's good to finally know for sure.

A token on eBay that is listed as Ada, I.T. (Idaho Territory) is actually from the Indian Territory which is now Oklahoma. I hope everyone realizes the mistake.
