GET-TOGETHER UPDATE !!!

Here are the plans for the get-together.

Friday July 27th. We are going to meet at the Bannock County Historical Museum at 4:00 P.M. The museum is near the 5th Avenue Exit off of I -15 South. We will be at the museum from 4:00 until 6:00 P. M. Greg is going to have a display of his Pocatello token collection. He apparently has some tokens that haven't been seen before except by him. There will be an extra display case if anyone else wants to bring a display. Richard Hansen is going to give a 15 to 30 minute presentation about tokens to everyone around 5:00 P.M.

At 7:00 P.M. we'll reconvene at Senior Iguanas for dinner. It is located about a mile west of the Pocatello Creek exit off of I-15 South. Just turn right on Hiline Road and it's on your left. At around 8:30 P.M. we'll go to Richard Hansen's house for our trading session. His address is 1338 E. Whitman Street. If you take the Clark St. exit off of I-15 South turn right and then turn left on 12th street. Take another left on E. Whitman and drive straight into Richard's driveway. If you can't make it at a specific time feel free to join us at anytime it's convenent for you. A suggestion has been made that we hold a token raffle if anyone is able to buy any tokens from people who show up at the museum presentation. We would all pitch in to reimburse the person who bought the tokens. This would help to avoid problems at the museum.

Saturday, the 28th, those who want can meet for breakfast at Uncle Jim's restaraunt on Yellowstone Ave. at 7:30 A.M. A walking tour of Pocatello is planned from from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. We will meet at the corner of Main & Center for this tour. Around 9:30 A.M. we'll leave on our area driving tour. We will again leave from the corner of Main and Center for this tour. Hopefully we'll all fit in the 12 person van. We'll be in Albion for lunch and tour the Rupert museum before heading home. The plan is to be back by 4:30 P.M. We'll have a mini tour for those who want over to Inkom from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. Dinner will be at the Pink Palace with a patio table view of the old/new brewery. I'm not sure where this is located but I'm sure Greg or Richard can give us directions if needed. After dinner it's back to Richard's house for more trading etc. We'll head home on Sunday or find a spot for metal detecting.

 July, 2007

Once again this past month there weren’t many Idaho tokens on E-Bay. The best token that I saw was a Walter A. Johnson token from Prichard, Idaho which sold for $291.25. I’m not sure what the denomination of the token was since I couldn’t find it on the listing. I have a 10c denomination. Walter A. Johnson is listed as a grocery in 1923. I think all old tokens from Prichard are rare. There’s not much left of the town but a couple of bars and one café. We visited the town on our third get-together in Wallace and we each ended up with some modern plastic bar tokens.

A Burke Drug Co. token went for $43.00 on E-Bay. A Nampa /Bar/Nampa/Idaho sold for $43.88 and a Mikes Place/Twin/Falls,/Idaho.//G.F./5c/I.T. brought $27.05. Other prices realized included a Moulton’s Cigar Store/Weiser/Idaho which sold for $22.05. A Jack Mills maverick from Kamiah which went for $19.00 and a Gregory/&/Wilson maverick from Whitebird sold for $68.88

There was a Paul Koppenhaver mail bid sale this past month which had a lot of Idaho CCC tokens in it. Most of these are maverick tokens but there was one with the town and state on it from Prichard, Idaho. I haven’t received the prices realized yet.

The NW TAMS Token Show is coming up July 7th & 8th. The auction in conjunction with the show has some good Idaho tokens in it. It will be interesting to see what they sell for. I’ll let you know the highlights when I find out.

The national Natca show is being held in Omaha, Nebraska over Labor Day weekend. The auction in conjunction with the show usually has some Idaho tokens in it. There are usually some good tokens to be found on the browse floor also.

The Idaho Token Get-Together this year is going to be Friday July 27th and Saturday the 28th. The itinerary as I understand it is we meet at the Bannock County Historical Museum on Friday the 27th around 4:00 P.M. We will be at the museum from 4 to 6 P.M. Richard Hansen will give a presentation about trade tokens at 5:00 P.M. At 7:00 P.M. we will meet at Senior Iguanas for dinner. It is on Hiline road which is west of the Pocatello Creek exit about 1 mile. Their main food is Mexican but they also great hot wings. After dinner we will go to Richard’s house for our trading and B.S. session. The tentative schedule for Saturday is breakfast at 7:30 A.M. followed by a walking tour of Pocatello. We will leave on the driving tour around 9:30 A.M. Saturday evening will consist of dinner and another trading session at Richard’s house. If I find out any more specifics details I’ll add them to this page as soon as I can.

I did manage to take a short trip to Boise this month. I was able to visit with Dan Lute for a while an take a few pictures of his new finds. We also went metal detecting for a couple of hours but we didn’t find any tokens. We did manage to find a few pennies.
