Token News
August - 2008 A few Idaho token collectors where able to attend the N. W. Tams token show that was held July 12 & 13th in the Portland area. I haven’t heard of any great token finds but I’m sure they enjoyed visiting with other token collectors. I think the price of gas made a few people think twice about attending. I got to meet Stacey Murdock a few days ago. He is a fairly new Idaho token collector and he seems very interested in learning all he can about Idaho tokens. He grew up in Idaho Falls and especially likes Bonneville county tokens. I received word from Roy Rubick that his Montana token book is finished. I haven’t seen it yet but I’m looking forward to reading it. There were some neat Idaho tokens that sold on ebay last month. An 8 scalloped, aluminum token from “ E. F. Grunert / Exchange / Saloon / Rathdrum, Ida. // G.F. / 5c / I. T. “ sold for $787.77. It measured 28mm. A token from the “Office /Saloon / Hope, Idaho. // G.F. / 6 ¼ c / I. T.” sold for $699.99. It was round, brass and measured 21mm. There were a couple of neat pool hall tokens from Sandpoint that sold for $202.50 each. I hadn’t seen either of these merchants before. A “Bens” token from Onaway sold for $225.35. It was round, aluminum and was good for 5 cents in trade. Another Rathdrum token from the “Mountain View / Bar” sold for $136.49. It was round, brass and measured 21 mm. I haven’t heard of any great tokens found with a metal detector lately. I also haven’t heard of any new mavericks being attributed to Idaho. I’m going to add another picture at the bottom of this page from our Idaho Token Collectors get-together that we held in June. From Left: Dan, Ron & Greg in front of Idaho Hotel, Silver City, Idaho - June, 2008 |
